Where am I today? As usual, a little scattered. I have been feeling that as my ovearching emotion lately; scattered. I am extending myself in quite a few different directions lately, all for good reason. I think, though, that my intention may have been lacking. I have been joyfully saying “YES!” to any and all crafty and design requests that come my way. I love making special things for special people, so I don’t really see saying “no” coming along anytime soon, but I think I need to revisit why I’m doing each project. For my own sanity and sense of organization, I think I need check in and to make sure that each project in each specific time frame is serving my greater good and my goals, and that I do indeed have time for it, and that I am consciously, intentionally choosing to do it.
In Marisa’s class this week we were reminded to ground ourselves offline every once in a while, to really remind ourselves why we make what we make and sell how we sell and do what we do in this online world every day (that’s my paraphrasing). I think that’s one of the things that makes Squam so special, that we are all quite disconnected to the outside world there, so we are able to reconnect to our inside world and also forge more meaningful connections to those around us. The real people with real bodies and faces and their sweet real laughs and sneezes. We can forget how important that part of our existence can be when we spend so much time in front of these screens. Don’t get me wrong, I love love love the community I’m becoming part of on the internet. Other artists going through the same struggles I am or who have words of wisdom about when they were where I am now are so invaluable. And meeting them (you!) in person is amazing. And they make wonderful friends, too. It’s amazing how close you can become to someone through these here internets, but we must must must take some time now and again to reconnect to our body and our real-life friends and family.
Today, for just such a purpose, I pulled my yoga mat out to the deck and did my first real yoga session since hurting my ankle. I had to modify quite a few of the poses and it was just a gentle series, but it felt really good. To be outside and moving my body. {I would say it felt good to connect with the earth, but our deck is about 12-15 feet in the air, but it felt good to connect with the air!} I then followed that session with this week’s guided mediation from Leonie’s class, which led me through thoughts and imaginings of grounding and floating and letting go of what doesn’t serve me (both literally and figuratively, of course — this is a decluttering course!). It was really a very spectacular morning.
And now here I am, back on the internet, connecting to you. Which I love. This whole crazy thing is just so cool. I hope you are liking my new site. Please let me know if you see any glaring typos or anything odd, because I really haven’t had anything proofread or anything. Will you be my editor, please?

i just wanted to pop in and say hello to you! it’s so nice to “see” you in the fishbowl and realize you are from twist/western mass! i’m not sure if we’ve ever had the chance to chat at twist (it’s always such a blur!) but i stopped by your table last month and thought your work looked so wonderful! ( i didn’t see you there to say hi, and i never made it back…)

ps: love the new website!! so great!!! : )
Love you new site! Really inspiring. You did it yourself with wordpress? Hmmm. I hope to do a switch to a more cohesive website soon and may need to give you an e-mail:). A also really enjoyed your thoughts on saying “yes”. I’ve been putting an end to my endless “yessing” and starting to say “Maybe” for some things. This gives me a chance to reflect before I commit. I really loved this post!
xox,
