Two weeks ago I left for Jenny Fenig‘s weekend Retreat for Goddesses at Menla Mountain Retreat Center in the Catskills of New York. Whoa. I really don’t have the words to describe it yet, still processing, still learning from the whole thing, but I hope these photos serve as a little taste of the awesomeness that happened there. (Photos by the amazing Judi Esmond Martin)
So what did happen?
I can tell you that there was a lot of sharing, laughing, tears
“woo-woo” (the word of choice to label all good things spiritual/intuition-based/out-there), tarot readings with the wonderful Jennifer Currie, delicious vegetarian food (that I didn’t have to cook or clean up after, bliss!), enjoying the garden/buddhas/mountains/trees/streams/white butterflies
yoga, journeywork (read: guided meditation), stillness, meditation, being-in-nature
FIREWALKING (I KNOW! I DID IT! Seriously. Those are the coals up there in the last photo. 6 or so feet long and I walked them at leat 7 times. With new friends, with our yoga teacher/shaman/guide Amy, with myself. It was TRANSFORMATIONAL. If you ever get the chance, do it. Not just to prove how bada$$ you are (you already know that, right?), but to feel the POWER of fire, the medicine it has to offer, the power you have over your mind/your pain/your journey)
and lots and lots of learning and inner work, guided by Jenny and her team of fantastic helpers. AWE.SOME.
So transformational, healing, heart- and eye-opening. And I got a massage, too (yes!).
Thank you, Jenny, for putting together one of the most magical of experience. You rocked it. I utterly loved every moment of it.

Sounds wonderful Laurie! Will you share details
Are there other retreats, for cranky post-me opausal feminists?
Best to you and love from Jane
Thanks Jane! You would be welcome at that retreat — but I’ll let you know if I find the right one for you!!! xoxo
