1. turns out I love being a mama. YAY! (not that I doubted that I would, but I’m pretty glad that I do.)

2. a tree fell in our backyard 2 nights ago. crazy, right?

3. my aunt moved her shop to an amazing new space! It’s called Ikonium Studio and it’s at 69 Church Street in Lenox, MA — Go visit! There you will find contemporary and traditional Turkish and American fiber art and craft, amazing Turkish rugs, as well as some fantastic paintings and a few things made by other crafty folks and yours truly.

4. I’m doing a show in 2 weeks! I haven’t really gotten back to work yet (still resisting, enjoying “maternity leave”!) but I have to. Today. The show is sponsored by BerkshireMade; Handmade in the Park, downtown Lee, MA, Saturday August 7, 10am – 4pm.

5. tomatoes! summer! swimming!

6. I am told our miss Natalie is very “advanced” — large for her age (10 weeks!), but also strong, smiley from day one and super talkative for weeks now. Also sleeping a lot, but I wont get into that, for fear of being stoned by other sleep-deprived mamas.

7. did I mention summer? With that comes weddings (that we have missed, boo!) and visits from friends and family, barbecues, birthdays of some of my favorite people, craft fairs (I’m only doing one, but you better be visiting lots!), farmer’s markets, tag sales (no, haven’t been to any, but we will), vacations (maybe next year?), and the Berkshire Fringe (starts next week!)!

Yay, Summer!

**Sappy Cheez Alert** (you’ve been warned!)

Yesterday was our 2nd Anniversary. {Happy Anniversary, darlin’!}

Have I told you that I love this man?! He makes me very happy. I have so enjoyed builidng our life together, attempting to figure out what the future holds for us, creating a little tiny farm and a loving, welcoming home. I am not going to sit here and tell you it’s all been happy roses and sunshine, but I have thoroughly enjoyed being married to him for these last two years. Marriage is hard, any relationship is hard, but at the end of the day, if you give back even a little of the love you receive from the universe, you have done good, right? I think we done good, baby.

He doesn’t often let me take photos of him, but alas, I still try, stealthily, that is…

To celebrate this little milestone, we had a lovely dinner at Chez Nous right here in Lee, which reminded us of our fantastic honeymoon in Montreal two short years ago. We had some delicious food, of which there are even a few leftovers, and some great wine and some lovely conversation and general loveyness.

My wonderful Mom gave us this little gem of a book as an Anniversary gift:

“A Short Guide to a Happy Life” by Anna Quindlen, which I just read cover-to-cover. What a happy little book, with some lovely photos and all-around goodness. Thanks, mom!

This passage really spoke to me:

“Get a life in which you are generous. Look around at the azaleas making fuchsia star bursts in spring; look at a full moon hanging silver in a black sky on a cold night. And realize that life is glorious, and that you have no business taking it for granted. Care so deeply about its goodness that you want to spread it around . . . All of us want to do well. But if we do not do good, too, then doing well will never be enough.”

You should probably buy this book. If you’re anything like me, reading it will instantly make you feel happier, lighter, and more joyful.

Happy Wednesday, this 8th day of October 2008. Enjoy it!

Ok, so first we went to San Francisco. It was wonderful to be back, and I instantly felt at home. We went to the beach on our first full day there, after eating crepes at the Crepevine and strolling around the Inner Sunset. We took the N-Judah down to ocean beach and it was sunny and lovely and like old times. Although I didn’t know the beach off the Sunset was more dune-y than from the Richmond district, where I used to live with Davey and Joey. It was super beautiful!

Sam and Jeremy were wonderful, gracious and generous hosts, and they even took us to a Memorial Day BBQ back out by the beach, where we got to play with dogs and miss our dog, who stayed home with my mom and her buddy Mickey.

It got a little chilly when the fog rolled in (ok, it was cold, I was wearing a jacket!), but down south of the city where Joey and Ariel’s wedding hotel was (in San Mateo) was sunny and warm. The Wedding location on the top of a mountain in Woodside, CA, was not so much warm as really really cold. But we dealt just fine in our groomsmaids’ dresses, thankyouverymuch. It was fun to see some old friends from The College Years (yes, I was on that Saved By the Bell season. it rocked). I didn’t get a chance to take any pics of the wedding, so you’ll have to make due with these professional shots… And normally I wouldn’t post so many pics of myself, but I had some requests. So, here’s a little photo-essay of the wonderful-est wedding ever (ok, ‘cept ours of course!). Aren’t they the cutest (handsomest!) couple?
